Beyond the Olive was created in 2009 by husband and wife team, Chip and Crystal Reibel. During the past few years, Chip and Crystal have learned to understand and appreciate the positive attributes and aspects of high-quality extra virgin olive oil. In addition to the terrific taste, they soon learned of the countless health benefits that also come from this tasty treat. As Chip and Crystal shared their new love for high-quality extra virgin olive oil with their friends and family, it became apparent that most consumers have not had the opportunity to experience a premium quality extra virgin olive oil nor are they aware of the tremendous health benefits. You may have noticed a few other olive oil stores in Southern California. Beyond the Olive is taking a slightly different approach than other olive oil stores. Our extra virgin olive oils and vinegars are almost exclusively produced and bottled in California ? not shipped over and imported from Europe. Many of our partners (Chip and Crystal dislike referring to them ?suppliers?) are small producers that produce oils simply for the love of extra virgin olive oil. "It simply makes sense", Crystal once said. "With the current state of the economy, why wouldn?t we do what we can to support our local economy. We are very similar ? we are a small businesses, doing our best to share our passion with the world." Here is an interesting tid-bit: there are well over 600 producers of extra virgin olive oil right here in California. Shocking, huh? Chip and Crystal quickly came to the realization that there was much more to the olive oil industry than meets the eye. They spent a significant amount of time surrounding themselves with experts in the industry to further their education on the rich history of olives and olive oil. They visited numerous California producers to understand the various techniques for harvesting and producing extra virgin olive oil. They continue to increase their knowledge of extra virgin olive oil and current industry trends by attending olive oil conferences and events. We integrate this well rounded knowledge into a first-class shopping experience by providing an interactive, relaxed and informative atmosphere for the novice who seeks delicious, healthy food and the epicurean who seeks to enhance their cooking experience. Our Mission The mission of Beyond the Olive is to provide our customers with the knowledge to accurately assess the quality of extra virgin olive oil and provide them with access to the greatest extra virgin olive oil that California has to offer.
